About
The colorful Honghyeon Village was once called Rara because many conches, called sora in Korean, were caught here for living. Later the village was named Honghyeon Village due to its location next to Rainbow Hill. Renowned for its excellent water quality, the village held Korea’s first abalone festival in 1999. It was selected as one of the “100 Rural Villages to Live and Visit” by the Rural Development Administration.
Visitors also explore Gacheon Daraengi Village (가천 다랭이마을), Wolpo Dugok Beach (두곡, 월포해수욕장) and Nodo Island (Kim Manjung Historic Site) (노도(김만중유허지)) near this location.
